Title VI - American Indian Education

WUSD uses Title VI grants to implement supplemental, culturally responsive services. Allowable uses of the funding include:
  • Academic Support: Tutoring, after-school programs, and college/career preparation.
  • Cultural Preservation: Language programs, tribal history education, and incorporating tribal elders into the classroom.
  • Student Well-being: Dropout prevention strategies, violence/substance abuse prevention, and family literacy services.
School districts that receive Title VI funding are required to establish an American Indian Parent Advisory Committee (AIPAC). Parents and community members use this committee to guide the district on which academic and cultural needs the grant should prioritize.
