Dear Families and Community Members,
We are busy preparing for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year. Time always flies in the summer for us as we are hiring new employees, preparing presentations for staff, looking at updated safety procedures, and cleaning up our facilities and busses.
As most of you know, both my fraternal grandparents, the Ozments, and maternal grandparents, the Emigs, lived in Winslow and raised their families here. My parents, aunts, and uncles are graduates of Winslow schools. My sisters and I also spent time in school here. My husband’s family has been here for many years, and are also graduates of Winslow schools, as are our children. So, in short, Winslow is my home.
I know I’m repeating much of last year’s letter, but some people may want to know about my background. So, I am a graduate of Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, as well as two Master’s Degrees, one in Elementary Education and the other in Educational Technology. I taught 1st grade, jr. high Math and Reading, and high school Technology plus was the high school sponsor for Student Council and Cheerleading Coach in Joseph City for eight years prior to beginning my career in Winslow fifteen years ago as the Federal Programs Director, Principal, and Assistant Superintendent.
We have been busy trying to “unify” our district. This is our current direction that we hope to incorporate more and more in everything we do. The Leadership team created a Mission Statement around this philosophy.
UNIFIED to empower all students, all families, all staff every day.
Please take some time to attend our community meetings, concerts, sporting events, plays, and visit our schools. Get to know us! We are all here to help answer questions to the best of our ability.
School begins Monday, July 30, 2018!
