Dear Students, Parents, and Community Members:
My name is Cyndie Mattox. I am incredibly honored to be the new Superintendent of Winslow Unified School District #1. Both my fraternal grandparents, the Ozments, and maternal grandparents, the Emigs, lived in Winslow and raised their families here. My parents, aunts, and uncles are graduates of Winslow schools. My sisters and I also spent time in school here. My husband’s family has been here for many years, and are also graduates of Winslow schools, as are our children. So, in short, Winslow is my home.
I am a graduate of Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, as well as two Master’s Degrees, one in Elementary Education and the other in Educational Technology. I taught elementary, jr. high, and high school in Joseph City for eight years prior to beginning my career in Winslow fourteen years ago as the Federal Programs Director, Principal, and Assistant Superintendent.
I am excited to work with an excellent team of administrators and supervisors. The Leadership Team spent the summer planning, creating, and organizing our vision for this 2017-2018 school year. I believe the changes will have a positive effect on the community, parents, and students. Not only do we have a vision, but also accountability check measures to ensure that we stay focused.
We encourage the community and parents to visit our schools. We are proud of the staff. They are always available to answer your questions or visit about your concerns. The District Office staff is also available to assist in any way necessary.
Here’s to a great year!!
